Jennifer Frankola and Partnership for Children’s Rights Bring Home a Winning Decision for 11 Year Old with Dyslexia
Nearly a year after they filed a due process complaint to initiate an impartial hearing against the New York City Department of Education in November 2014, Jennifer Frankola
and co-counsel, Charles Scholl from the New York City non-profit Partnership for Children’s Rights, successfully obtained a winning decision awarding a year’s worth of tuition reimbursement at a New York City special education private school in Queens along with a bank of 1:1 tutoring as compensatory education and funding for private speech/language and vision therapy evaluations. B.D., a young girl diagnosed with developmental language issues, dyslexia and nystagmus, suffered years of educational neglect in her public school setting. Her parents sought the legal counsel of Partnership for Children’s Rights which selected Ms. Frankola as co-counsel to their case. After eight days of testimony and over 100 exhibits, B.D. and her parents were thrilled to have won their long battle with the Department of Education.
