LJAA Shows Support by Celebrating 15 Years of Long Island Going Red!

On, February 11, 2016,  hundreds gathered at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury to support the 15th Annual Long Island American Heart Association’s (AHA) Go Red For Women Luncheon.

This year Lewis Johs was represented by attorneys Jessica Klotz, Stacey Gorny, Judy Littman,  Christine Hickey and Tara Darling to show support and help raise awareness in the prevention of heart disease and stroke.  Heart disease and stroke cause 1 in 3 deaths among women each year – more than all cancers combined.  Go Red For Women inspires women to make lifestyle changes, mobilize communities and shape policies to save lives.

The Corporate Honoree this year was Linda Ressa of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and the Community Honoree was Premiere Cardiology.

The luncheon included many speakers supporting the AHA with inspirational stories.  One speaker touched our team with her moving story about her son.   Karen Acompora bravely spoke about the loss of her teenage son Louis when he was hit in the chest with a lacrosse ball and went into ventricular fibrillation. Since his passing, Mrs. Acompora and her husband founded the Louis J. Acompora Foundation which is an organization that has fought to have legislation, entitled Louis Law, passed to require AED’s in school to prevent similar occurrences from happening to other children.

The luncheon was a great way to take part in a worthy cause that Lewis Johs is proud to support.
