Lewis Johs' attorneys have extensive experience in all aspects of insurance coverage analysis and litigation, serving as coverage counsel and monitoring counsel for major insurers. Our experience includes an in-depth knowledge of the most cutting-edge law involving policy analysis, as well as representation of issuers and underwriters of all types of business and professional liability insurance including:
- General liability coverages
- Commercial and personal auto claims
- Homeowners coverages
- Directors and Officers liability
- Employment practice liability coverage
- Disputes arising under excess, umbrella and reinsurance contracts
- "Bad faith" and extra contractual liability issues
- First- and third-party environmental claims
- Medicare set aside releases
- First-party appraisal process coordination
- Construction contractual coverage/indemnity analysis
- Social media coverage issues
As monitoring and coverage counsel, we draw on our substantive legal expertise as well as our experience working with adversary counsel to reach resolutions that are satisfactory to both the insurers and their insureds. Our Coverage and Insurance group also assists clients in the early identification of exposure, and we proactively determine the most effective and efficient ways to minimize that exposure. When appropriate, the Coverage and Insurance attorneys at Lewis Johs are ready to litigate and/or arbitrate coverage disputes or policy rescission issues.
Lewis Johs attorneys have served in the capacity of providing regulatory advice and counsel to our clients and frequently lecture and author papers and articles on insurance coverage topics. We also
counsel our clients on the insurance implications of social media, addressing coverage issues that arise from the use of various platforms, as well as preservation issues and litigation holds.
