Jennifer Frankola Wins Motion on Pendency for Full Tuition Funding for 11 Year Old With Seizures and Dyslexia

Jennifer Frankola successfully won her motion on pendency for 11 year old I.G., a student with dyslexia and a history of aggressive seizures. Working with his parents and his medical team from NYU, Ms. Frankola was able to help I.G.’s family identify an appropriate school to meet his needs once the NYCDOE gave up on his case. Despite constant requests for an appropriate public school program, the NYCDOE advised that based upon his needs, I.G. could not be educated in a public school and instead recommended that I.G. be placed in a private school. However, the NYCDOE failed to find one for him for the 2017-2018 school year. After filing for an impartial hearing in September and arguing her motion before the impartial hearing officer, Ms. Frankola successfully obtain an Order of Pendency for funding at the Gateway School in Manhattan which directed the NYCDOE to pay I.G.’s tuition until the conclusion of the case.
