Katherine A. Giovacco Of Counsel
Katherine Giovacco’s diverse experience in both the private and public sectors gives her a distinctive viewpoint to strategize for her clients in litigation. Kat currently concentrates her practice on defending clients in professional and general liability matters, with an emphasis on nursing home liability and medical malpractice. In the past she also defended clients in attorney malpractice, premise liability, construction accidents, vehicular negligence, religious institutional liability and products liability cases. Kat handles all aspects of litigation up to and including trial in New York State Supreme Courts, both upstate and downstate. She has argued successfully before the Appellate Division’s Second and Third Departments.
Prior to joining Lewis Johs, Kat worked for the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office and as a partner with a Nassau County firm specializing in professional malpractice and negligence actions. She also interned with the New York City Corporation Counsel’s office. Kat was admitted to practice in New York State in 2006 and also is admitted in the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. She earned her Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Stony Brook University, magna cum laude.
In addition to working with Lewis Johs, Kat also is a prosecutor with the Essex County District Attorney’s Office and operates Elfenwood Farm in the Adirondacks. She is the proud mother to five children.
